In January the Meon Valley Lions supported the Ford Sports and Social Sea Angling club at their annual fishing competion on Weston Shore.
We had 162 adult and 9 junior participants and 26 of the anglers caught 31 fish between them. Overall the Fishing Festival raised £2,268 and the Lions Raffle an additonal £173, giving a total of £2,441 for the day. Many thanks to all who took part and supported us - all the money raised, plus a further donation from Meon Valley Lions, wil go to Naomi House.
Who are we?
We are the local Lions Club for the Meon Valley area in Hampshire, England.
We are one of the 45,000 clubs that make up Lions Clubs International, the largest service club organisation in the world with over 1.3 million members in over 205 countries.
What do we do?
Our aim is to provide service, assistance and funds for those in need. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for those less fortunate people in our communities. We hold fund-raising events, and donate our time and assistance freely.

How can we help you?
Our range of help is very broad. In the past we have:
- Helped to buy electric wheelchairs for local disabled people
- Provided transport for people who couldn't get around otherwise
- Arranged nursing help, caravan holidays, children's day trips, etc., for needy families
- Regularly provided gardening help for elderly or disabled people
- Given grants to young people attending international camps, etc
- Paid for a student place at an agricultural college in Kenya.
- Sponsored other charity fund-raisers (e.g. www.steveslongwalk.org)
- Raised funds to buy a radio system for BASICS (British Association for Immediate Care)
- Supported a local Detached Youth minibus project

How can you help us?
We are always in need of help.
If you would like to join the club, or if you feel that you could help with our fund-raising, assistance to others, facilities, or in any other way, please contact us (via "Contact Us" above).
We also need MONEY! To this end, we arrange fund-raising events throughout the year and ask you to contribute anything you can spare, to help us help others.
What happens to the money you donate?
EVERY SINGLE PENNY we collect from donations or profit from our fund-raising events is used to help others. Unlike many other organisations, we use absolutely NONE of the money for salaries or administration.
How do we decide where the money goes?
We meet once a month, usually on the first Monday of the month, at the Uplands Hotel, Droxford, Hampshire, at 8pm.
Anyone is welcome to come along to the meeting, but please contact us beforehand, in case the meeting has been postponed!
